Consultants in the Audio and Visual Arts
"Inscription" is a multimedia
installation that explores the fragmentary nature of
memory as it is filtered through history and personal experience. In this
exhibit,
at the Carnegie Museum of Art, the World War II memories of Norma and
Otmar are presented in a variety of ways--hand made books, audio, video and
large glass panels assembled from thousands of 1/4 inch squares--each square
engraved with a single letter. The Magic Lantern worked with artist Diane
Samuels and the compositing software program Digital Fusion to create two 20
minute videos of subtly layered images. The videos were projected side by side
on a specially built wall that contained an array of earphones playing the
recorded memories of Norma and Otmar. We also collaborated on the
animated gallery title.
